Measuring for an Inside Recess Roman Blind
To be sure of the best possible fit, take time to measure your window carefully.
A. Measuring the width: Measure the width of your window recess from wall to wall. Take measurements at three different points just in case your window is not square and write down the smallest measurement. This measurement is called 'Inside Recess' (See fig. 1). A small deduction for clearance will be taken by us from your supplied measurements to ensure your blind can operate smoothly and fits within the recess.
B. Measuring the drop: Measure the height of your window recess from top to sill. Take measurements at three different points just in case your window is not square and write down the smallest measurement.

Measuring for Curtains on a Rail
Suitable for curtain heading types:
Pencil Pleat, Triple Pleat and Goblet Top.
To be sure of the best possible fit, take time to measure your window carefully. The curtain rail should be positioned 15cm above the window and extend 15cm - 20cm either side.
A. Measuring the width: Measure the total width of the rail (excluding finials). Don't forget to account for overlap - this is an additional measurement, normally 2.5cm, that allows the hanging curtains to overlap in the middle when they are closed.
B. Measuring the drop: Before measuring the drop, decide whether you want your curtains to fit below the sill or to the floor. We suggest that:
Curtains that fall below the sill finish 15cm below.
Floor length curtains finish 1.5cm from the floor (See fig. 3).
Measure the drop from the top of the rail (See fig. 4).

Measuring Curtains on a Pole
Suitable for curtain heading types:
Pencil Pleat, Eyelet, Tab top, Triple Pleat and Goblet Top.
To be sure of the best possible fit, take time to measure your window carefully. The curtain pole should be positioned 15cm above the window and extend 15cm - 20cm either side.
For pencil pleat, triple pleat or goblet top curtains measure the drop from the eye - the small metal ring at the bottom of each curtain ring. This will prevent the pole or rings from being obscured by the curtain (See fig. 6).
For eyelet or tab top curtains measure the drop from the top of the pole (See fig. 7).

Measuring for your Wooden Floor
Length x Width = Area M²
Fitting Solid Wood Flooring
It is very important that your home / building is completely dry before you receieve delivery of your new wooden flooring. The building should also be fully aired and have a relative humidity of 50-60%. Wooden Flooring should be stored within the packaging, and away from an outside wall, for a minimum of 14days to acclimatise to the building before being fitted. To store your wood you should stack it flat.
Solid Wood Floors can be fitted to most floor types. If fitting to a Solid Concrete Su-Floor you must ensure that it is completely dry and has been overlaid with 3/4" Plywood. When fitting Solid Wood Flooring to existing Tounge & Groove Floor Boards, the new flooring should be fitted at right angles to the run of the existing boards. It can be Chip-Board, HDF, or a plywood sub floor. When fitting over 3/4" plywood or when uncertain about pipe positions beneath existing floors, the penetration of the nails can be reduced by fixing a shoe attachment to the portanailer. When fitting your new Solid Wood Flooring directly to Ground Level Joists they should be covered with Polythene moisture barrierof bitumen paper to prevent cupping caused by damp up draughts.
You will require approx 1000 nails to fit 30m2 of floor. You should nail every 30-40mm along the board through the tounge. A 15-20mm gap should be left at all perimeter walls with temporary wood or PVC spacers. The floor is fixed to the sub-base using a floor nailer and 2" nails.
When fitting prefinished floors, drill pilot holes at a 45º: angle and then secret nail by hand.
You will need to use Hardwood Joining Strips when running the wood through doorways.
Pre-finished woods require no further treatment once installed, but will benefit from a couple of coats of Bona Kemi Parquet Polish which will give extra protection from scuffing and moisture.
There can be slight variations in the Colour & Shade of these products.
